Art or Ugly?
11/19/15 9:14 PM

Just got back from a bike show in the country and saw this 14.
No matter what your opinion, it is an amazing amount of work.
Even the rims have not been neglected...

Taste is a matter of taste. I recently saw a green Harley with all the characters from "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas" painted on it's bodywork. Licence plate read "GRNCH" It was very well done. Looked like hell to me.

I could appreciate the art work if it were on a wall, but no vehicle looks good over done in my opinion. Even Kawasaki puts too much on some of their bikes right from the factory. I started removing decals from my 2013 SE as soon as I got it home.

My feelings exactly. It's good to see but not something I would want to have all over my bike. Too many elements. I think a regular pattern of small elements that doesn't deemphasize the shape of the fairings is a good way to go if you're going to paint all over the bike. I know it can be hard to try to do everything you think is cool without going overboard. One other thing, I think many people are impressed by airbrushed effects alone as long as the artist has the technique down. I'm very picky about airbrushing or any type of permanent pictorial representation. If the goal was obviously to look three dimensional, it is painfully obvious when it falls short even if the technique is very competent. To me, this looks like a good job of using an airbrush but not very lifelike. that would be fine if it was on a t-shirt but not on my bike.

There's a place just outside of Milwaukee called Seven Mile Fair. It's like a huge flee market and people are allowed to sell whatever they want there (as long as it is not TOO illegal). There's a guy there who makes a lot of money airbrushing bikes. ride up and he'll paint your bike while you watch. Pretty cool to see but after he's done, you're stuck with a bike that has bad artwork that was done technically perfect...for about $50. I'm sure this guy did t-shirts and jackets and just discovered for a little more work he could get a lot more money if he painted bikes. More power to him! He's definitely knows his technique and people love it. Just don't park next to a bike that was painted by a highly reputed airbrush artist.

While I can appreciate the work involved, it's kind of like the Roarin Toyz bikes...

Too many elements.

It's too busy too actually appreciate any if the detail. Rook I agree with the comment on the "dimensional effect" otherwise it's just turns out flat. Some bikes have the lines that allow one to be more adventurous (hayabusa in my opinion) as for the Zx leaving the paintwork original and concentrating on the detail makes for a more impressive look.

None the less kudos to person that puts in the hours to get his bike looking different and the way they like it.

It's got wow factor. I admire the effort as far as it being a show bike. It's a bit too much for my taste, but also probably looks a lot different in person. Really cool and lots of work to get that all done.

I appreciate that a lot of work was put into the bike, but boy is that fugly!
It just seems like such a shame to put so much work into a bike just to have it turn out looking like a bad joke.

I think the problem is that I had to look at it for a while to even understand what is was trying to say. Way too busy. Armored, reentry, spaceship electronics, I guess.

I like your white whale;)That's the color I originally wanted...but they didn't have ABS on the first ones.Great choice with white there.

"I think the problem is that I had to look at it for a while to even understand what is was trying to say"...LOL..I STILL have no idea really what it IS trying to 'say'.Agree it probably looks MUCH different in person.

I'm guessing some sort of 'alien ship'?Helluva lot of work and skill however...the guy's good.

I think it looks like somebody combined the Alien with the mother ship, added a US flag, hit the mix button for a split second, and then tattooed it on a poor, unsuspecting, otherwise fine ZX14.

Wouldn't say it was ugly. I can appreciate the effort though. We all know it would look better in Diablo Metallic Black.

morgstang - 2 ways:

1) Externally: Post your pics to a pic hosting service like photobucket.com, get the link they give you and come here and post that link using the green button that says "Link to Photo Image"

2) Internally: Click the green button that says "Upload Photo". If I recall correctly, that adds the pic to your album here on this site. And then when you want to post it in one of your postings, click the brown briefcase icon that says "Browse", find the pic and click it.

I put externally first because I think it's easier. Not way easier, just a little easier. And once you add a lot of pics to your album on this site, it's cumbersome to try to find specific pics you're looking for.
